UBC through new eyes

Today I went out to UBC to speak to a group of students who are about to start their final preceptorship. That was me, exactly 4 months ago. As I wandered across campus to grab some starbucks and partake in my favorite sushi, I realized that I did in fact feel different being there. I didn't think I would, and yet, there was a sense of freedom, accomplishment and pride in my step. Free from their torture/homework, and proud to be a UBC alumni.

It was great sharing with the group about my preceptorship, and giving what few tips I could on how to make the best of it. Hopefully I did ok and inspired rather than scared them :)

Bavarian Bike & Brew

Last weekend we took a last minute trip to the picturesque town of Leavenworth to partake in the Bavarian Bike & Brew Fest. It was a last minute decision that was made easy by the offer of free lodgings, a fun race, and a big beer garden.
We stayed at the delightful Icicle Village Resort in one of their luxurious 2 bedroom condos. On Saturday we helped out with the bike race which earned us free entrance to one of the best beer gardens I have ever been to. Granted, I haven't been to that many, but this one was cool! It was in a valley on a hippie commune/organic farm and it was beautiful!
The rest of weekend was spent 4X4ing, biking and relaxing. Such a great little getaway!
The gorgeous view from high up on one of the logging roads.
Loading up the bikes and enjoying the view outside our condo.

The beer garden. Enough said.

Me holding some yummy beer! Best of all, it wasn't piss American beer like Coors Lite (sorry Fawn) but rather yummy microbrews.... and did I mention FREE?

Phil and I partaking in the festivities!

Survived the writting of the Canadian Registered Nurses Exam..... have to wait another month to see if I passed it. 7 hours locked in a huge room reading convuluted badly written multiple choice questions that are inteded to play mind games = NOT FUN!

Looking good!

The night after my grad ceremonies, the nursing students had a delightful dinner together on Granville Island. I was excited to get some good shots of Phil and I as we were both dressed up and looking good! However, the new camera battery decided to die on me. So this is the only shot that I've got from the whole night, and I'm not even in it! :(

We met at my friend's apartment in downtown then took the water taxi/bus across to Granville Island. Gotta say, I felt pretty fancy and sophisticated being all dressed up and getting on a boat to cross the harbor. Not too sure why, just felt fancy.

Had a great night reminising about fun times, and the not so fun times, in nursing school.
